Forging a path: National Indigenous Peoples Day at CPC

In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day, staff at CPC came together to honour and celebrate Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contributions under the theme "Forging a Path."

The day began with a meaningful smudge ceremony led by Elder Barbara, providing participants with an opportunity for reflection, connection, and learning. Following the ceremony, staff took part in a commemorative walk.

During the walk, a monarch butterfly joined the group, a moment that was especially meaningful. Elder Barbara later shared a reflection on the significance of the monarch's presence, offering insight into its symbolism and helping to deepen awareness and understanding of the experience. The butterfly's appearance served as a powerful reminder of guidance, transformation, resilience, and the interconnectedness of all living things.

The event provided staff with an opportunity to come together in a spirit of respect and reconciliation while reflecting on the importance of Indigenous teachings and perspectives.
